Today the Rocky Mountain News is producing their final edition. This amazing, multiple Pulitizer Prize-winning newspaper is shutting its doors. This paper is among the best of the best. And it's over. It's just.... unfathomable.

This video about the staff producing their last edition. It's thorough and powerful and incredibly well-done. It is a swan song of swan songs.

This is horrifying and depressing and just makes me sick to my stomach.
I am so disheartened.
I keep telling everyone that if we (our country) let all newspapers shut down (the Seattle PI has only 1 or 2 weeks left, too), then the generations to come will surely be missing something wonderful - a slice of Americana.
I still have the edition of the Rocky from the day of my birth. The front page story was about the blizzard that my uncle had to drive my mom's vw bug through to get her to the hospital. I can't believe it's gone. It's kind of like the grandparent you know is mortal but somehow expect to live forever and so you're surprised when they die. I'm bummed.
