Then and Now

I had scheduled a family portrait session for last weekend, but it rained. We talked about rescheduling for this weekend, but the family had plans to go to the Jersey Shore. The client said, "We can't do it next weekend unless you want to come to the beach..."

And I thought, "You know what? Joel's and my anniversary is next weekend. That's not the worst idea in the world." So ten phone calls to bed-n-breakfasts who REALLY don't like to take last minute, one night only reservations and don't mind if I, "um, please possibly take some photos with portrait clients who have two small children at some point, maybe?" I found this place! Look how pretty!

We could have taken Bella with us, too, which would have been a lot of fun, actually. We didn't realize how dog friendly it was until we met an enormous mastiff and a tiny pug having lunch with their people on the porch. Anyway, I got to do the shoot, and Joel and I got to take a spontaneous trip! We also went out to dinner and saw the latest Harry Potter movie, which I've been DYING to do. Plus the hydrangeas growing outside the B&B reminded me of my bouquet a year ago.

My dad shot the bottom photo of us in Maui two weeks ago, and as soon as I saw it it reminded me of our wedding photo.

It's been quite a year for us. The wedding, the trip to Australia, the presidential election and inauguration, the birth of two new "nieces," surgery, house-hunting and Hawaii. Never a dull moment, my love. Never a dull moment. :)

To all the adventures that lie before us! Mwah!
